Alana & Erik met in July 2002 when Erik was working at President's Choice Financial, and Alana was a cashier at the Real Canadian Superstore.

One sunny Thursday, Erik spotted Alana working the express checkout at Superstore, and waited in her line to buy some yellow sunglasses.  They chatted and smiled, and flirted just a little.  Erik found Alana beautiful and charismatic, and knew he wanted to see her again.  Alana found Erik very handsome and sweet, and knew this was the start of something truly amazing.

In August 2002, after weeks of "checkout flirtation," they had their first date.  They have been inseparable ever since, and the rest, as they say, is history!

Erik had been planning his proposal to Alana for months.  What he had in mind would be nothing short of spectacular.

September 10, 2005 was a warm and humid evening.  Erik and Alana had spent the evening out to dinner with Erik's sister and brother-in-law, and had "planned" to continue the fun at their home with drinks and a movie.  En route from dinner, Erik took Alana on a detour through their favorite place - King's Park.  On the top of the hill under a harvest moon, Erik asked his best friend to be his wife.  And she said yes.

This special moment was highlighted by a brilliant fireworks display, planned and orchestrated by Erik, as a gift for Alana on this night.  How could a woman say no to a man willing to light-up the night sky just to make her smile?
